A little further from Grotta Bel Torrente is Grotta Smerelda and what makes this cavern so special is that you always have the possibility to ascend to the surface. There are several stone formations and swim through's inside the tunnel which make it feel like a small cave dive and at the end of the cavern the maximum depth is only 2 meters deep so we surface, take the gear off and continue on foot to a explore a beautiful stalactite formation. Because the natural daylight is absorbed as you penetrate the cavern area further a light is needed but this gives you the chance to go critter hunting in between the rocks and crevices.
Max. depth: 12 meters
Max. penetration: Approximately 60 Meters for this dive
Max. group size: 4 divers
Cavern line: Must be placed at penetration
Necessary equipment: Normal sport diving equipment with 1 primary light and 1 backup light
Minimum certification requirements: Open water diver certification
Distance/duration of boat ride: Approximately 20 minutes
