The system is more comfortable in the water, it's easier to carry to the dive site (especially those sinkholes and cenotes with difficult access), minor and major restrictions become passable, the system offers full redundancy and valves are easier to get to in emergency situations and also on longer dives (or for shorter people) back pain is either removed completely or drastically reduced!
The team here are convinced of its functions and dive it for all our pleasure dives, however, as in every configuration it is important to learn how it works and therefore participation in a sidemount cave diver course is a must. Examples of the subjects presented in this course are:
This course is a must for those cave divers wishing to go to the next level of exploration on open circuit.
